If I am remembering the story correctly, the father of one of Michael's coworkers passed away and she asked him to make 3 memory quilts for her out her father's clothes.  So we've got t-shirts, dress shirts, denim shirts, swim trunks and even socks.  I think there is a pair of pajama bottoms in there too, but I'm only guessing on those.  I initially thought boxers, but there's too much fabric for just boxers.

All of the quilts use many of the same blocks, but different fabrics.  There's a snails trail in all, a tulip block, churn dash and spinning star to mention a few.

Yes, socks.  One pair per quilt.  Oh yes, and handkerchiefs.  See the green in the left side of the sock block?

 Towels?

The border on each is a velour, like maybe from a track suit.
