Joan's latest baby quilt

Joan does love her lime green. There's a new baby in her family, born on April 1, 2010, and a lucky little girl is going to receive this quilt. We also used Joan's favorite thread, or at least her most popular choice, Rainbows "Lime Squeeze", and did a Flora and Fauna meander for the quilting design.

"Fascinated by Monet"

After my dear friend Wendy passed away, I learned that Dennis and Carolyn were expecting their first grandchild in June, 2010. They told me that Wendy had planned on making a quilt for the baby, but it just didn't happen. Needless to say, this meant that I needed to finish this up for her. Choosing the pattern was obvious, it needed to be one of Wendy's designs, and I love her Monet quilt in it's many varieties. The backing was also easy, I've loved this fabric with Wendy's "Weeble" dog on it since it arrived at the shop. My friend Rachel helped me choose the fabrics for the top, again choosing some of my favorite fabrics that hadn't yet made it into my stash. Below is the picture of Weeble on the fabric, and the label. The label reads "Fascinated by Monet" Designed by Wendy Ann Wood, pieced and quilted in her honor by Elizabeth T. Durand. The quilting design is on of my favorites, "Swirls" and we used variegated thread in the top.

Feather Sampler

Who knew I could quilt like this? In about 2007, I took a Feather Sampler class from Dawn C. director of education at APQS. At the time, she had us all stand up, and placing right hands over our hearts, swear that we would complete the sampler we were about to learn. I'm ashamed to say that it took me this long to make it, but I think it was worth the effort. The quilt is a wholecloth made from muslin, then I used a variegated thread called "Rainbows: Opal". I'm very pleased with how the whole thing turned out, and can't wait to try some more of my own quilts.
