"One inch strings" by me

I found the idea for this quilt is a magazine, and then didn't even keep the pattern.  (There isn't much too the pattern).  Just cut strips of fabric to equal widths.  The pattern called for 1.5 in wide pieces.  Then the length can be whatever scraps you've got.   Piece them together into long "strings" of the desired length.  My measurement was to stretch my arms wide and when the piece reached between my fingers with arms outstretched, it was the right length.  Since this isn't an accurate measurement, you end up with crooked edges.  Those were cut off straight before quilting.
The backing is also pieced from multiple fabrics.I had a collection of flannel squares that I had serged together into several small potential quilt tops or backings, but changed my mind.  Stitched them all together to make the backing nearly large enough, then had to add a couple of pieces of found pieces of flannel from mom to make it large enough.  The only thing in this quilt that is not leftovers from another project is the batting!

Donated to a police officer who has someone in her life who has recently started a medical treatment and will gift this to that person.  I felt badly that they are getting such a funky quilt and not a "nice" one, but I hope that this will bring them some comfort.

Two of mine

This is a quilt that I made out of leftover half square triangles that I don't even recall what project they were made for.  Quilted with a chevron design that I wanted to try out, and leftover wool batting.  This will go to a police officer as soon as I find one.

This is a Dresden Plate quilt that was started by my darling mother in law, Delores Stearns Durand.  Based on the fabrics, 1970's or 1980's?  After she passed away, I inherited the blocks, all but one were complete 3except for the inner circle.  I finally pulled them from the closet and started in appliqueing them to background fabric.  I chose the brown because it seemed to work with the original fabrics.
Heirloom quilted with wool batting, SID around each blade and a feathered wreath in the setting blocks.  Then a background fill to keep it from looking "Like a comforter" per my friend Pat.  It was sent to a great niece of my husband so we kept it in the family.

"FOFP (Festival of finishing projects) by me.

I am so thrilled to have these done and nearly out of my hair.  I've got 3 to still deliver, but at least they are ready for delivery!  Top is from Mystery Quilts Anonymous, and I've already forgotten the name.  I know that I messed up the pattern somewhere, so no telling.  Also, when I grabbed the fabric for it, I was pretty sure that I had enough of each fabric.  Not quite!  Nearing the end of the quilt, I was piecing the light colored fabric together into "Make do" blocks just so that I wouldn't have to find something else to go into it at that late date.

This is "One Block Wonder" from at least 10 years ago.  I took at class at the Heart to Hand quilt shop, and that shop has been gone for at least 10 years.  All the blocks were made, just needed to be laid out and put together.  Another MQA helper, I joined the UFO challenge.  When I joined, I said that this was the only quilt that I needed to finish as a UFO (Unfinished fabric object).  My list is now 11 items long, but they are also not all fabric projects.  I am now mostly using this as a reminder of things that I want to finish.  Like a travel book, a quilt that I bought fabric for last spring...Have just added the Dresden Plate (or fan) blocks that I inherited from my darling mother in law.  Will see how long that takes.

Another of my 2" square blocks.  I am sure that I have the magazine for the pattern here somewhere, but I do recall that the pattern was called "Modern Wedding Ring"  Certainly something I would make again as it's a great way to use up 2" squares.

Thins I would do differently next time?  Watch my color placement.  Make sure that there is enough contrast between background and squares.

Canning Tomatoes, quarts.  The title of this quilt comes because I was piecing this quilt top the last time I was canning tomatoes with my mother.  I have no idea how long that has been!   Also, this is Quarts, because I had so many squares that I made a smaller "Pints" version and gifted it to my niece and her now husband as an engagement gift.  They've been married for 3 years, so another long term project.  This will be delivered today!

Several police quilts from me.

This one is called "Soul Mates", and is from the website "Mystery Quilts Anonymous".  This is a quilt that she (Debi) designed to celebrate having 5000 people following her facebook group.  Of course, I went with scrappy, but I still think it really works

This one is also from Mystery Quilts Anonymous (MQA). and is called "Crossroads"  Again, scrappy, but it will help to keep someone warm
Finally from the website "Wedding Dress Blue" this is officially called "Growing up Odd"
However, I have chosen to call mine "My Favorite Color is NOT Orange"
This quilt started for me by doing an internet search for quilts using 2" squares.  We all have those bits that are too big to throw away, but too small to keep.  So, when I find scraps, I cut them to 2" and throw them into my shoebox storage system.  Then I used the piecing of this as a "Beginner/Ender" quilt.  There are 2425 squares in this quilt, and since my favorite color is not orange, that's what I chose to use for the sashing.    The name further comes from my darling nephew Jackson who was about 6 years old and learning to ski.  I made all of the family ski sweaters, and asked Jackson what colors he would like.  He responded "My favorite color is orange Auntie Beth!"  My thought, horror of horrors, I have to knit an orange sweater!  Well it was blue with orange and green accents.

The rest of the funny part is that as the kids grew, and grew, those sweaters no longer fit.  So, I made "grown up" sized ones.  Jackson ended up being 6'7" tall, so his "grown up" sweater probably doesn't fit.  While at a family gathering recently, our newest nephew in law arrived in a sweater that looked so familiar to me.  We finally figured out that it was Jackson's grown up sweater.  Cody, the new nephew is about 5'7", and it fits him quite well.  And it made me so happy to see how well the sweater had held up after all these years.

3 from Zoe

Zoe has been a busy lady.  Here are 3 of her current quilts, but I have one more to finish.  Since the blogger software has changed, I can't edit as easily, so here they all are together.  Green and blue 1/2 square triangles make s lovely winter themed quilt, even if I don't consider some of the fabrics winter.  Pink safety pins and dragonflies for example.    Quilted with "Flurries" and I love how it turned out.

I am calling this one "Orange Wind chimes" since the quilt is quilted with the Wind Chimes design.  I love how Zoe uses up her scraps of fabric to make blocks, and then it turns into a lovely scrappy quilt.

Bargello Strings.  It's not really a bargello quilt, but I love how it turned out!  Again, made from left over strings, all cut to the same width, then pieced together.  Quilted with "Asti" panto
