Triangles from Zoe

This is one of those great quilts that you don't realize how great it is until you stand back and look at the entire quilt. I love the mostly solid colors as the "focus" fabric, and then the fun print for the background. Quilted with "Tea Leaves" design

"Scrappy 4 patch" by Priscilla

Priscilla is a new to me customer, but I hope that this is just the beginning of a long relationship. Here's one that started out as a bunch of 2.5" square, pieced together as lights and darks to make 4 patch units. I don't know if she used a design wall for the layout, but it's just such a happy quilt!

Norma's rescue and leftovers

Here is another 1940's "rescue" quilt from Norma.
The blocks were hand pieced by an unknown maker, some of the 9 patch pieces are even pieced to make them large enough for use in this quilt. This is my kind of piecing!

Norma wanted a more masculine design on this one, and the "Amazing border"design. So, a swirly pattern on the body of the quilt, and a different border.

And a "string pieced" quilt. One where you take all those little scraps that are too big to throw away, but too small to keep and piece them into new blocks. Norma consistently used the white as the center of her blocks. Nicely done.

1940's 9 patch rescue #1 by Norma

Yes, that is what Norma called this quilt top. The blocks are 9 patch blocks, hand pieced. Not sure where they came from, but some of the patches were pieced to make them large enough for use in the block.

Quilted with the hydrangea panto in the body of the quilt, and free hand leaves in the border

"Grand-daughter's layout" by Norma

Norma gave me 4 scrappy quilts to quilt, and appears that this one was laid out by her grand-daughter.

My instructions were to quilt it with "stars", so I found this "spinning star" design, and then we used pink thread. Great design, going to need to use that one again!

9 Sisters/Kaleidescope by Lorri

This is one of two very larger quilts. Both king, both stunning! This one has a lavender/purple back, that reads as pink in the photo below.

Quilted with swirls and then Madeline curve in the border.

"Bonnie Hunter's Latest Mystery"

I love
mystery quilts, but Bonnie Hunter is a bit intense for m. Gotta love her stuff though, and beautifully pieced by Dagmar. I'm pretty sure this is the one that started the "leafy vine" panto, so thank you for that!

"Trellis" by Deanna

This is another of those quilts that when you're quilting it you think "Hey this is fun." Then after it's hung up and you step back you realize just how stunning it is! I imagine that these are all Kaffee Fassett fabrics

Lots and lots of templates, and some strangely shaped triangles. I had to ask if it was paper pieced or templates. It's templates, and impeccably pieced! I almost laughed when Deanna asked "What kind of rookie mistakes did I make?" I really hope we'll get to work together again.

"Radiance" by Norma

This is Norma's second quilt of I believe 7 in her "Covid" series. Will have to get more info on that from her. As always, I love seeing the full quilt hanging up, even if it is slightly folded due to my machine.

This was quilted with the "Cross Patch" panto in the body of the quilt. (below is the back of the quilt to show more detail.)

Then wavy lines in the borders. My Lenni and I have some learning to work on with placing designs in the body, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

"Scrappy Irish Chain by Sara"

I really have to remember to call this quilt just an "Irish Chain", not the "honking huge Irish Chain that keeps popping up in my head. This quilt is 102"x102". The top of a king mattress measures 76"80", so lots of drop on the sides of this quilt.

I so love scrappy quilts. It's like going down memory lane when you see the fabrics from previous projects. There are a lot of scraps in this quilt, and some that I have in common with Sara.

But there is still a calming effect to the design because she chose the same orange, green and brown fabric for the last 3 squares before the center cream.

All of these squares finish at 1.25", so they were cut at 1.75". And yet, every so often, that one piece of fabric wasn't quite large enough, so she pieced two small pieces together to make what she needed. See above with the mauve on the left, and the black and white print in the middle.

Here's a couple of shots of the solid beige backing fabric. Each square was quilted with continuous curves, making a grid pattern through the scrappy blocks. Then a large feathered wreath in the center medallions

I guessed wrong the number of bobbins needed for this quilt. I think I told Sara about 16, which had been the previous record for most bobbins used in a quilt. This one took 28.

"Shine" by Jodi

This is Jodi's very first quilt! Queen sized, because why would we ever start small? I asked Jodi why she started quilting, and laughed at her response. She and her mother have opposing political views, but mom is a quilter, so this gave them something to share together.
