T-shirts for Susie's children

This quilt was made by Susie, who happens to be my mother's primary care provider.  Small world.  Based on her history with mom, we, my family, think that Susie is wonderful.
But back to her quilts.  This is for her daughter Adrianna.  Shirts from elementary school through high school.

I love the artwork on this one  An Adrianna original.

"Nautical" for Diana

Diana made this quilt twice.  She said that she wasn't happy with this version and made the one that I quilted earlier.  I'm not sure why she didn't like this, I thought it turned out darling!  Quilted with nautical panto

"Rectangles" by Carla

I haven't quilted for Carla for several years, but she brought me this lovely recently.  She has usually used a ginkgo quilt design, but this worked quite nicely as well.

"Socky Monkeys" from Susan

Susan is an inspiration for me in her creation of quilt tops.  I love how she takes some small pieces and then builds them into a lovely quilt top.

Two flannels from Betty

Don't you just love how color and value will make a difference in a quilt?  This is the same pattern, but made in different color ways.  I love how the brown on just seems to disappear into the distance, but the rainbow effect with the lighter flannel is also stunning!

"FOFP (Festival of finishing projects) by me.

I am so thrilled to have these done and nearly out of my hair.  I've got 3 to still deliver, but at least they are ready for delivery!  Top is from Mystery Quilts Anonymous, and I've already forgotten the name.  I know that I messed up the pattern somewhere, so no telling.  Also, when I grabbed the fabric for it, I was pretty sure that I had enough of each fabric.  Not quite!  Nearing the end of the quilt, I was piecing the light colored fabric together into "Make do" blocks just so that I wouldn't have to find something else to go into it at that late date.

This is "One Block Wonder" from at least 10 years ago.  I took at class at the Heart to Hand quilt shop, and that shop has been gone for at least 10 years.  All the blocks were made, just needed to be laid out and put together.  Another MQA helper, I joined the UFO challenge.  When I joined, I said that this was the only quilt that I needed to finish as a UFO (Unfinished fabric object).  My list is now 11 items long, but they are also not all fabric projects.  I am now mostly using this as a reminder of things that I want to finish.  Like a travel book, a quilt that I bought fabric for last spring...Have just added the Dresden Plate (or fan) blocks that I inherited from my darling mother in law.  Will see how long that takes.

Another of my 2" square blocks.  I am sure that I have the magazine for the pattern here somewhere, but I do recall that the pattern was called "Modern Wedding Ring"  Certainly something I would make again as it's a great way to use up 2" squares.

Thins I would do differently next time?  Watch my color placement.  Make sure that there is enough contrast between background and squares.

Canning Tomatoes, quarts.  The title of this quilt comes because I was piecing this quilt top the last time I was canning tomatoes with my mother.  I have no idea how long that has been!   Also, this is Quarts, because I had so many squares that I made a smaller "Pints" version and gifted it to my niece and her now husband as an engagement gift.  They've been married for 3 years, so another long term project.  This will be delivered today!

T-shirt quilt for Stan's wife, from their son's shirts

Stan reached out to me about making a quilt for his wife for Christmas.  His sons are now both grown, but we've got shirts from when they were in high school, maybe grade school, and also college.  Clearly this is a very proud papa.

For her brother in law by Mary Beth

Clearly, I need help with photography.  This quilt is actually made up of rich brown fabrics, specifically linens, and maybe some linen rayon blend.  Quilted with wool batt and the "Two Books" panto.  The recipient is a reader, so very appropriate.

"For Beth in Idaho" by Pat

Pat is such a giving person.  Beth is a woman who recently helped to provide music for Pat's daughter's wedding.  As a thank you, Pat made her a quilt.

Quilted with Twinkling Teardrops design.

"Propellor" by Michael

Where does Michael find the time?  Every time he picks one up, he drops off another, or 4.  This one is a pattern test for someone, and seems to be a variation on the Storm at Sea pattern.  Lovely in just two colors.

"Home" by Leigh

Every time I have a quilt from Leigh loaded and a customer comes to pick up or drop off, they always comment on these.   I continue to tell others that many of us think Leigh is touched in the head for her desire to do so much hand applique and embroidery, but whatever it is that you love, do more of it!

I quilted this with lots of little pebbles in the background and SID around the appliques.  Another stunner.

This block reminded me of the "Shoes on the Danube" memorial in Budapest that we were able to visit in Sept. 2022.  I kept thinking of the people who were killed after removing their shoes on the banks of such a beautiful city.

I pray that the world will never see such violence again.

Snowballs by Gerry T

Oh drat.  The colors in the top photo are really inaccurate.  These are actually bright jewel towns all Laurel Burch holiday prints.  Well, the focus fabric is.
Quilted with "Flurries" panto, and gold thread, on a black backing.  Not the nearly brown that my camera shows.  Great job Gerry.

A String quilt by me.

I love string quilts and being able to empty out at least a part of my stash.  This one really did nearly empty my red strings drawer!  Of course, it's nearly full again, but for a brief shining moment it was nearly empty.

Currently being driven around town with others, waiting to find the police officer for it.

Two from Susan

I have already told Susan that I intend to follow her example and use some of those pieces of fabric in my stash that are not yardage, but still too large to cut up into other sizes.  I even have some of this same jungle animal print in my closet right now!  Quilted with Sun Scallops panto

Dino quilt based on the focus fabric of the dinosaurs.  I love their hats.  Another great example of something that can be pulled from the stash, and made in a weekend or two.  Love it!

9 patch sharks

Found out over thanksgiving that there will be a new baby arriving in December 2022 for the really extended family.  So, what do you do, but make a quilt?  What do the parents like?  "The Cowboys, and Sharks".  I'm hoping that this meant the Cowboys football team, as I tried go with their colors.  Sharks were easy to find a great digital design.
Again, raided the stash!

A couple of police quilts from me

I am calling this ;one "Grey flannel" simply because of the grey flannel setting squares.  I have no idea where the grey flannel came from, but I had just enough to add to these random cut 2" squares that I've been using as a beginner/ender quilt for some time.  As you may be able to see in the photo, even the binding is scrappy.  I LOVE pulling things from my stash and then using them up!  (Not that you can notice a dent in any part of my stash)

This is "Stars Over Bethlehem" from Mystery Quilts Anonymous (MQA)  Again, raided the stash, and had such a good time piecing it.  I love all the different animals in it.  My only regret is that many of the larger animals were cut apart, so you can't see all of them.  Still a personal favorite.

Baby quilt by Sara

Sara and 3 other friends brought me the original of this quilt after making the blocks for their friends who were recently married.  These 4 blocks didn't make it into the first quilt, so Sara put them together as a baby quilt for her co-worker.  All flannel, so soft and cuddly and perfect for a baby!

For Sandy's daughter

I haven't seen Sandy for some time, she usually mails me her quilt tops, and then her daughter will pick them up.  This one is for that daughter, so we're actually going to meet in person for pick up.

Another soft and lovely colored quilt, quilted with a leafy vine design in wool batting.

Two from Sue

This is a "Scrabble" quilt for Sue's daughter.  Sue told me that she and a friend found the scrabble letters in a quilt shop, and each bought two panels.  The letters in the quilt are things that are important to her daughter.  So the grandkids and spouse's names, hobbies, etc.  What a fun idea!

I can't wait to see how Sue finishes this quilt.  She has machine appliqued all of these darling little sea creatures onto the white, and then will add additional embellishments to it.  I SID around each one, and quilted a wavy design in the background and outer border.

2 more for Christmas from Mary Beth

Last year, Mary Beth made quilts for all the grandkids.  This year, her children will get their own.  This one I'm calling "Spring Dreams" the name of the panto that she chose for it.   The colors are so soft, and the fabric has a lovely hand as well.

And a Rail Fence for her son.  Quilted with the "Double Diamond Cat design that she chose  Clearly, I'm going to need to use this one again.

2 from Betty

Here we have Paintbox.  A kit from years ago.  Love the rainbow design of the colors across the top of the quilt. Quilted with "Asti" design, which someone had to point out to me is like Asti Spumante.  Oh!

And "Windmill".  I don't usually do this, but I changed thread colors for Betty without her permission.  Thankfully, she was thrilled.  Impossible to tell in this photo, but the background fabric has a lot of gold in it.  So, instead of the white thread she had chosen, I went for a gold, and it's is stunning!
