"Propellor" by Michael

 Where does Michael find the time?  Every time he picks one up, he drops off another, or 4.  This one is a pattern test for someone, and seems to be a variation on the Storm at Sea pattern.  Lovely in just two colors.

A String quilt by me.

 I love string quilts and being able to empty out at least a part of my stash.  This one really did nearly empty my red strings drawer!  Of course, it's nearly full again, but for a brief shining moment it was nearly empty.

Currently being driven around town with others, waiting to find the police officer for it.

"Patriotic" by Marlene

This is another huge quilt, so only half gets to show.  A lovely "Trip Around the World" design with a center star.  All done in red, whites and blues.  Marlene changes her bed quilts out with the seasons, so this one will go on her bed after Memorial day.

Feather meander over the entire quilt, except for the center square which gave me a fun place to play.

 

"Heart Strings" by me

We've all got them.  Bins of fabric "strings" that are too large to throw away, too small to keep.  I found the inspiration for this quilt in a magazine, but don't recall the name of the pattern or the designer. Shame on me!  Pretty easy to figure out, just decide on the size of your squares and then make string pieced blocks and sashing for them.

 This is a police quilt, just need to get it to an officer now.  Too bad they don't come knocking at my door when I have a quilt for them.

"End of Year Snowflake" by Jennie

I'm not sure where the "end of year" part comes from, but that's what I've got listed, so that's the name of this quilt.  I love it! 

Quilted with Flurries panto, and white thread, on red fabric, even if does look orange in the bottom photo.

 

Log Cabin by Jean

 

I am sorry to say that Jean is moving out of state.  I hope that she'll keep quilting, I've really enjoyed working with her.  This lovely log cabin is quilted with "twist and turn" panto.  I love the movement in it.  The silver thread was also a great choice.  Best to you Jean.

"Mystery Quilts Anonymous" on Facebook.  Since it's a mystery, you only get fabric requirements.  I decided that checker boards are black and red, so that's my color choice.  Scrappy as always, because that's my style.  Now I just need to find a police officer to give it too.

 

"Love" quilt ffor Mom by Travis

 This is the sweetest thing.  Travis made his first quilt, and is giving it to his mom for mother's day.  Based on his glorious piecing skills, he is obviously skilled with needle and thread, stating he makes clothes. 

Simple, straight line quilting, and what a precious gift.

Squares by Carla

I've now done several quilts for Carla, and she has always chosen the same ginkgo leaves pantograph for quilting.  It always works on her quilts too.   A simple design for piecing, but I love how it turned out.

"Squares on point" by Zoe

This quilt is BIG!  I've got a 14' long table, and this quilt was getting close to the edges of it.

 Just simple squares, all set on point, and then quilted with an edge to edge design of free hand leaves with a variegated green thread.  Pretty!

Diamonds by Becky

Becky's daughter is having a birthday soon, and this is for her.  Becky's a new quilter, and I'm very impressed that she took on such a difficult pattern.  All those lovely bias edges must have been a pain to work with! But, I think it turned out very pretty.

"Gingko Leaves in red and black" by Carla

 Another lovely Asian fabric quilt from Carla.

This is the backing of her quilt.  Just as lovely as the front!

"Cozumel Palace" by me

In  January 2018, my darling husband's boss took the entire company (it's small) to Cozumel, all expenses paid for a week as a thank you.  Oh my!  So, this quilt is a long time in coming, but I found the pattern and knew that this was the one for them.  Thomas and Penny are Chinese, so I tried to use colors that would be significant for them.  Red for the background was the obvious choice.

Then there were these large open spaces just designed to play with quilting!  I even had to get 2 new longarm rulers to make this quilt.

The backing fabric is a really pretty batik.  So many solids on the front, that this was the perfect time to use this fabric.  Also reminded me of some of the colors of the ocean there.

Mickey and Minnie by Michael

 Oh fun!  Start with some sweet Mickey and Minnie Mouse squares.  Make them into star blocks, and then add fabrics to develop into a log cabin block, and now you've got a fun quilt!  Quilted with the "heart attack" panto.

Red and White Medallion by Michael

 Oh Michael, you've done it again.  This quilt is a stunner, and I ddin't realize just how much of a stunner it was until I hung it up after quilting.

Scrap quilts are so much fun, what a great way to use your stash.  This one really worked with a limited palette, and I got to enjoy seeing fabrics from previous projects of Michael's.

"Campain Buttons" for the police by me

First let me say that I totally stole this idea from "Quilt Loft" in Albany, OR.  I had seen the quilt initially about 2 years ago, but while on a bike ride in Sept. of this year I saw it again and was really inspired.  I've got all these leftover patriotic fabrics from another project, and it seemed the perfect time to use them. 

 Not being a fan of applique, either by machine or worse yet, by hand, I only did 2 "button holes" in my buttons, but still fun.

I decided that I was making a political statement with my quilting.  Doesn't matter if you vote red or blue, when you combine them together they can still make something fun.  (I hesitate to go so far as lovely.).  I finished the piecing of it on election day, so that may be where my brain was as I was quilting it.

"Beauty Rose" by me

This was a labor of love quilt.  Easy piecing, easy choosing of the fabrics, but hard to work on.  During college, I met my very dear friend Mia, who died in March, 2017.  This quilt is made for her daughter who I have become closer to since that time.  Stevie and Marvin were married July 2, 2016 (my birthday!) and this is a belated anniversary gift for them.

I love scrappy quilts and there were a lot of really fun memories going into this quilt in the choices of fabrics.  Wishing them much joy and love in their lives together.

"Cars" by Sharyle

Sharyle had a special request from her grand-daughter for a Cars quilt for her birthday.  Thankfully, Sharyle still had a panel in her stash. 
I love the pinwheels on the "tires" in the border.

"Chief Sherpa" by me

When we get to ride Cycle Oregon, we camp with a group called "Team Soaras", and our friend Ted is the "Chief Sherpa" for us.  That means that he organizes

the Sherpas who set up camp or us, and make the coffee in the morning, and provide the adult beverage of your choice at the end of the ride.  Team Soaras is the only way to do Cycle Oregon.  As a small thank you to Ted for his hard work, I made him this quilt. 

Ted teaches firefighting at Chemeketa Community College, and so when I found this firefighter fabric in Waldport, I knew that I had to have it for Ted's quilt. I had decided by that time that the quilt would be red, black and white, and I was pretty sure that this was the correct pattern.  It's paper pieced, something I don't usually do, but I'm glad I took a chance and really worked at that technique.  Quilted with freehand f'lames, to keep the firefighter theme going.
