"Quail" by Diana for her mom's 84th birthday

Isn't this just so fun!  Diana says that where her mother lives there are quite a few resident Quail who hang out near her home.  Sadly, mom's birthday was while I was out of town, but we met soon after I returned and got this finished for her.

Each individual egg on 3 rows of sashing was cut out by hand, and appliqued b y machine.  I SID around them all to give them definition.
Same with the birds, and some of them have a LOT of pieces!  Beaks, wings, their adorable little topknots.  Quilted with a freehand background fill of swirls that was a good match to the print on the white on white background.

 She is my favorite!
