Jane's coffe cups

Isn't this a fun quilt? The cups all have lettering underneath them with things like "Mexican Coffee" and "Double Shot" We chose to use the Rainbows thread on it (one of my new favorite threads) for the sheen and color changes. The quilting is a swirling pattern to resemble steam.

Norma's South African Fish

Norma pieced the South African mystery quilt from Heart to Hand. Her great-grandson got this quilt or his 4th birthday and reportedly prounouced it to be "awesome". I love the Rainbows thread that Norma chose, and the different quilting designs are so fun.

Laverna does it again!

Laverna is one of the most prolific piecers that I know. She made this one for the leader of her Bible study group who is leaving the group. Lucky leader to get such a pretty quilt. We quilted it with leaves and vines to match the design in the quilt fabrics.

Roy Rogers

Linda took a pattern from Thimbleberries, and used her Roy Rogers and Trigger fabrics. So fun! Makes me want to rent all those old movies and watch them.

Jane's wall hangings

I met Jane when she came into Heart to Hand with a friend. Next thing I knew, she was calling and asking me to quilt these for her. I love the curved piecing, and the spiral piecing. I'm not a fan of paper piecing for myself, but I love the look of it. We did a pond water meander on the crane quilt, and a paisley meander on the purple quilt. So pretty!

Dresden Plates by Harriet

Harriet's grand-daughter is the lucky recipient of this quilt. Machine appliqued, and quilted with feathers across the entire quilt top.

Carole's $5 a month quilt

Carole paid $5 for the original directions, then if she completed that block, and brought it back to the shop, she got the next block for free. This continued for the year. Her son is the lucky recipient of this beauty. It's quilted with a feather meander in the main body of the quilt, a feather border through the flying geese border and pond water meander in the outer border. Her son chose a variegated thread, and it was perfect! Doesn't show well in the photos, but trust me.

"Convergence Quilt"

Norma has been a busy lady. This is another of her quilts, a style called "Convergence Quilts" that Ricky Tims developed. Because of the fish in the fabrics, she chose a pond water meander for the body of the quilt, and a swirly meander for the outer border. I love the thread she chose as well. Perfect color for the quilt.

"Norma's Cuban mystery"

Norma and I used the same colorway for our Cuban mysteries, and even some of the same quilting designs. However, they still look completely different. Both are quilted with the Fern Gully panto, only Norma's has cross-hatching in the outer border. Very pretty!

This is a shop sample I pieced and quilted for the Heart to Hand Quilt shop. Really turned out lovely in my humble opinion.

This is Chris' "Tattoo Quilt" It's for her son who is a tattoo artist, and although you can't see the fabrics, there are lots of designs you would think of for tattoos. Skulls, crossed guitars, butterflies. The border design is of a cat with "Meow" written in between. Not exactly what you think of when you think of someone who does tattoos, but apparently he loves his cat. I think it really turned out great. The design is Wendy's "Fascintated by Van Gogh" pattern from the Heart to Hand Quilt Shop. Although the throw size pattern is considered to be a 3 hour quilt top, in that it takes approximatley 3 hours to piece the top, it took Chris significantly longer. Hers is a king sized quilt though.

Jackson's sweater

Jackson is my nephew, and this is his ski sweater. It only took about a year to knit it because of my own foolishness. Started out making it too small, then thought I'd forgotten to decrease for the neck, so I ripped it out. Only to find out later that I hadn't needed to rip it. By then it was August, and a little warm to have a wool sweater sitting on your lap. Finally finished on December 30, 2008, complete with Dale of Norway sleeve patch, and my label. It's called "Nagano", and was designed for the Norwegian ski team to wear during the Nagano olympics.
