"Grandmother's quilt" by Marni
Marni says that her grandmother pieced this quilt top and her grandmother passed away in 1946. The quilt is made up of Shoo Fly blocks, and obviously whatever scraps she had on hand. I think that the pink in this might be a former hankie?
The yellow in this bock seems to be made of a cotton twill.
The black here has a stripe of gold dots and seems to be silk.
If you don't have enough fabric to complete the block, use something similar. There are flannels and shirting fabrics in this quilt as well.
All hand pieced, although some of the blocks had some machine stitch repairs. What an honor to help complete this lovely heirloom.
