"Shivery Snowman" update

Okay, this is actually Sharyle's version of Shivery Snowmen because I can't find a photo of mine.

However, the reason I'm posting this now is because of the recent email I received from Lori.  The last time I saw my quilt was when I packed it up to mail off to the quilt show in Sister's Oregon.  It sold at the show, and I hoped that it had a good home.

Recently I received an email from Lori asking about care instructions.  I responded, and then asked her how she found it.  Below is her email response.  What a blessing to hear that your quilt continues on.

Of all places I found it at the West Salem Goodwill for $14.99!!
I just can not believe that someone would just donate it vs. giving to a friend or family member. It’s in wonderful shape for being 14 yo. I’m so honored I was lucky enough to find it and my mother (she has dementia) and I will stand looking at it and all the detail involved. Every day she picks a square she likes best and we notice something we hadn’t seen the other times. This will be cherished for a long time.

Thank you to Lori for reaching out, and  I hope that you get your money's worth out of this quilt.  This has warmed my heart this holiday season.  Also a reason to always put a label on your quilt.  You never know who might ask about it.

"Bikes and Cats" by Sandy

This one is for Sandy's son who rides bikes and loves cats.  (Wish I could have kept this one for myself!)
Or the very least, found more of the fabrics that she used in this quilt.  I don't have either the bikes or the cats.  But I do now have the "Bike Chain" quilting design to use again.

2 Cat Beds by Ruth

Ruth lives on the street one block east of me, she trained as a music therapist (as did I), and loves cats.
So, here are 2 cat beds that she brought me to quilt, using the "Snickers" design.  Just a cat face on the left side.

"Herbs, Flowers and Pots" by Leigh

Leigh is at it again.  When I was working on this quilt, I kept thinking that our work together just keeps getting better and better.  We have now made a committeemen to each enter a quilt into a show.  Leigh will send this one, I'll do my National Parks.
The size of the embroidery!
Lots of pebbles around the embroidered circles, and a swag border

"Low Volume" quilt by Gerry T.

Gerry calls this a "Low Volume" quilt, made in muted colors.  She let me choose the quilting design and thread, so I opted for the "Hawaiian Flower" design because who wouldn't find a vacation in Hawaii relaxing?

T-shirt quilts for Nancy's relations by Michael

Here are 3 t-shirt quilts made by Michael for Nancy's relatives  Not just t-shirts, though, there were flannels, fleece, some metallic knits, you name it.  All quilted free hand to avoid bulky seams, pockets and rhinestones

"Picnic Quilt" by Brita

Congratulations to Brita and her husband.  According to the quilt label, they are no "Super Married".  It makes me smile just to remember that.

When Brita was looking at quilting designs, she had some other ideas in mind, something like fireworks, but kept coming back to the "Hippity Hoppity" design and stating "Look at the buns!  Same comment when she picked it up, so I think she was pleased.

Quilt of Valor by Gerry H.

Thank you both for your service.  This is a Quilt of Valor (QOV) for his son
I didn't want to detract from the art, so did some detail work on the birds wings, and the flag

And because I can't resist feathers, in the borders

Table runners by Pat and Cousin Barbara

"Christmas Cats" by Michael

So many questions for Michael.  First, where did this idea/pattern come from?  I really hope that it's a purchased pattern, and that he didn't come up with the idea on his own.  Otherwise I don't think I could like him anymore.

Where did you get that great cat panel!?  This is the second cat quilt that Michael has brought, using these cats cut out and then appliqued to a different quilt.  Something I would never even think to do.

My cat, Rumples is orange, but somehow, this cat below makes me thing of him.  Must be the pose

Quilted with Holly and Swirl panto, in gold thread, but here's a photo of the really deep red backing.  Not orange.

Additional comments from Michael.

" This and the Halloween pattern are from jedicraftgirl, who i saw on instagram, i got the pattern from her Etsy shop. They are designed to use this mod cat panel, the panel has enough cats to do 2 quilts. I actually had bought the panel some time ago, i thought it would be fun to applique them on tote bags i make. But no craft fairs so I didn't make bags, I knew it was fate that I had the panel waiting to see the pattern. The panels can probably be found here or there if you search and if they are still available, I got mine from equilter.com.  I also traced all the cats onto template plastic so I can cut my own from whatever fabric I want."

"Disappearing 9 patch" by Julie

Once of those where you don't realize how delightful  the pattern is until you get to see the full thing.  I love how all of the stripes are slightly off set from one another  Nice design Julie!

Quilted with Single Diamond for a cross hatching effect.

Two t-shirt quilts from Kristin

The first quilt is for her aunt who worked for the Portland Police.  But I also love the fishing shirts!

And a second quilt for her niece made from her sorority shirts.  I had to look closely at this one until I realized that it wasn't a concert shirt, but also from her sorority.

"Rainbow Rainforest" by Michael

Another amazing quilt from Michael, and another Elizabeth Hartman pattern.  All animals found in the rainforest, and I had to look at the pattern to make sure I got all the names right.  Above, the sloth.  I think my favorite.
A Squirrel Monkey

Capy Bara (feel free to google this and let me know what it is.)

Armadillo (and I thought they only lived in Texas)
Tapir
Toucan

Several more from Sue

Sue is another prolific piecer who dropped off several quilt tops at one time. This 1/2 square triangle collection is made with help from her grandmother.  I think that Sue added the white borders, but maybe more.  Quilted with Baptist Fans.

Hugs and Kisses, quilted with "hearts and bubbles panto

"Birds" for Jim by Xande

Jim had a "significant" birthday in June of 2020, but will soon be receiving his birthday quilt.  Each and every one of these blocks is paper pieced, and some of the pieces are microscopic All of the blocks were SID around their sashing, then a bit of background fill around the birds.  Due to the numerous layers at times, I knew that I wouldn't be able to quilt over all the birds, so I just left them alone. Truly stunning.

The crane is extra large, so he got a bit more detail in his background  some SID around the fencing, and a of texture on the flooring
