Mary's Patchwork Party #2

I just love the colors that Mary chose, and how the quilting just lets the piecing show through. Then there's the part about what a great piecer she is, so her quilts are a joy to quilt!

Maddie's quilt by mom

My mother, Pat, started this quilt for her grand-daughter Madeline I don't even know how many years ago. Her first quilt, and the whole thing is applique! Many of the fabrics are leftovers from clothes that she sewed for Maddie, so it's even more precious. This was a block of the month project from the sewing store where we both bought our machines. So sweet!

Pat's Sun Face

How cute is this? Oh my gosh! Sorry, the photo doesn't do it justice, but it is going to be the sweetest wall hanging for a new baby who hasn't even arrived. Lucky kiddo!

Norma's Icelandic Mystery

Norma chose to make her quilt in blues for her son. Lucky guy! It's quilted with the "Fern Gully" pantograph in one of my favorite threads, "King Tut" Flannel on the backing, so warm and cozy for him.

Double Wedding Ring by Claire

Someday, maybe, I'll attempt to piece a double wedding ring. It'll probably end up being a table topper, certainly not the queen that this one is. All hand pieced with scrappy rings. Nice placement of the colors though. I'd love to know the history behind this one.

Stars and Crowns by Deanna

I have to admire Deanna's willingness to take on a challenge. This quilt has more "Y" seams (which are difficult to piece at best) than I can count. Really lovely in blacks, whites and reds with silver grey thread for the quilting.

French Brights

Sara's version of the 2008 First Saturday quilt at Heart to Hand. Sara chose the French Brights color way, and is the first person to have hers completed. Sara was also the first to have her 2007 quilt finished, so way to go Sara!

Bow Ties

The customers at Heart to Hand did it again! These are bow tie blocks from the Lottery Block of the Month that I won in January, 2009. Each "tie" is quilted with a different design, but a consistent background design. This quilt will go to the Portland Police Sunshine Division. Thanks to everyone who made blocks!

Jane's Flower panel

I love what Jane has done with this panel from Heart to Hand. I never know what to do with panels, so I never buy them. I might have to make an exception to that rule in this situation. She chose the King Tut Nefertiri thread (another favorite), and I quilted it with leaves and flowers.

Jane's coffe cups

Isn't this a fun quilt? The cups all have lettering underneath them with things like "Mexican Coffee" and "Double Shot" We chose to use the Rainbows thread on it (one of my new favorite threads) for the sheen and color changes. The quilting is a swirling pattern to resemble steam.

Norma's South African Fish

Norma pieced the South African mystery quilt from Heart to Hand. Her great-grandson got this quilt or his 4th birthday and reportedly prounouced it to be "awesome". I love the Rainbows thread that Norma chose, and the different quilting designs are so fun.

Laverna does it again!

Laverna is one of the most prolific piecers that I know. She made this one for the leader of her Bible study group who is leaving the group. Lucky leader to get such a pretty quilt. We quilted it with leaves and vines to match the design in the quilt fabrics.

Roy Rogers

Linda took a pattern from Thimbleberries, and used her Roy Rogers and Trigger fabrics. So fun! Makes me want to rent all those old movies and watch them.

Jane's wall hangings

I met Jane when she came into Heart to Hand with a friend. Next thing I knew, she was calling and asking me to quilt these for her. I love the curved piecing, and the spiral piecing. I'm not a fan of paper piecing for myself, but I love the look of it. We did a pond water meander on the crane quilt, and a paisley meander on the purple quilt. So pretty!

Dresden Plates by Harriet

Harriet's grand-daughter is the lucky recipient of this quilt. Machine appliqued, and quilted with feathers across the entire quilt top.
