"Dad's T-shirts for Missy"

I'm sorry to say that Missy's father passed away, so she had me make this quilt for her mother.  This one is small, only 9 shirts so that she can take it with her when she travels.  There will be another larger on coming.
Missy shared that relatives did the Tye dye on 2 of the shirts, and that the purple one in bottom left corner shows her cousin's band's name
The center block is actually made from a Hawaiian shirt that was purchased on their 25th anniversary trip to Hawaii, and her mother had a dress from the same fabric.

But this shirt was my favorite!  I don't understand all of the New England humor, but the "SHARKS" along the coastline makes me laugh.

2 T-shirt quilts by Mary Beth for a friend,

Mary Beth made these two quilt tops out of shirts from her friend's late husband's collection.  Clearly, he was a Blazer fan.

She also chose Blazer themed fleece for the backing, so they are extra cuddly.

Jackie's T-shirts

Jackie was referred to me by Feather Your Nest quilt shop, and she is a tri-athlete.  So lots of runs and bike rides,  and athletic events.

I, of course, focused on the bike shirts.  Cycle Oregon, although I didn't ride this one.

Margaret's T-shirts

Clearly, Margaret was involved in a sorority while in college because about every other shirt has something to do with her house.

Fun memories for her.

Ian's t-shirts from Lindsey

While Ian knows about the quilt, this will be a Christmas gift for him.  Several shirts from the South Pole in winter.  This one is my favorite.

Ian specifically asked that this one be "near the bottom so I can look at her."  I put it up one row from the bottom to be sure that the quilt didn't wrap around his feet, and he wouldn't be able to see her.  I think he was a little concerned that I might be offended by this shirt.  It just made me laugh.

T-shirt quilt for Susan's son

This was a really fun quilt to work on.  Besides the usual t-shirts, which you expect, Susan had a "special request" to incorporate a couple of baby items, and part of his coming home from the hospital blanket.
The blanket was made up of fleece stars appliqued to the red background.  The black and white check fabric was the backing of the baby blanket.  Perfect for building out the smaller pieces to make them large enough to match the rest of the blocks.

This block is made up of his hat that he wore home from the hospital, as well as small squares cut from his coming home outfit.  The white car and truck print was the inside, and the embroidery is cut from the outside.  So cute!
This one is my favorite block.  Seems that dad is a fan of the band Metallica, so he got to wear this shirt when he was little.  Probably the members of the band never thought this is where one of their shirts would end, but it makes me smile.

Nebraska football shirts

Here's a fun one the Becky made for a clear fan of the Nebraska Huskers football team.  She even found "Husker" sashing fabric.  Well done.

Shelly's daughter's cheer shirts

I've never been able to meet Shelly in person, but she seems to be a lovely person.  She is related to a recent t-shirt quilt customer, and that's how Shelly got my name. She mailed me these shirts with the layout.  I offered her some suggestions for sashing fabric, made the quilt and mailed it back to her.

Lucas' baseball jerseys

Lucas graduated from high school this year, but didn't get to have the traditional celebrations.  I hope that this quilt that his mom and dad surprised him with will help to ease that.  He played a lot of baseball, so many jerseys and t-shirts from those years.  The jerseys were a bit of a  challenge, I couldn't get my machine to quilt over the front placket.  So, those were left open, and he can still unbutton them.

Another t-shirt quilt for Colleen

How sad, both of Colleen's children are graduating in 2020, and neither will get to attend their own commencement.  Gotta love the "Pigsters University" shirts.

Tom's Harley-Davidson t-shirtsTom

Tom contacted me about making a quilt for him from a part of his collection of Harley-Davidson shirts.

There were a couple of chest pocket designs that Tom wanted included, but most of the shirt designs were too large to be able to fit those as well.  I appliqued them to the sashing instead.

I think this block is my favorite, and not just because they are a local business.  I love the fish too.

Dad's shirts and hankies for Colleen

These are dad's shirts and hankies from Colleen's late father.  The majority of the shirts were about grandpa, and so lovingly worn and occasionally stained. Obviously, this man was proud to be a grandpa.  I'm sorry for your loss Colleen.

Ben's shirts

This is a college graduation present.  Sadly, there will be no ceremony for Ben due to Covid 19.  I hope that he loves his quilt and that it's a great surprise for him.

T-shirts for Monica

Okay, it's actually Monica's daughter that is the owner of the shirts, and the recipient of the quilt.  Still wondering where these kids get the time to do all the sports, and all of the music etc.

T-shirts for Kristin and her kids

These are shirts from Kristin's late husband.  She had enough to make a quilt for herself and each of her kids.    Sad reason for making a quilt, but what a lovely memory of dad and husband.

As always, there's a favorite shirt of mine in each quilt.  I want to be an "Evil Genius"!  Love the monster with the cookies.  Darth Vadar is holding a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar in his left hand.  It's not a smudge on the quilt.  Darth Vadar and Mickey ears ice cream.  Too perfect!

Dad's shirts for Carol's (grown) children

Carol's husband has passed away, but she saved many of his shirts, and now has Christmas gifts for her kids.  The one above is for her son, the one below for her daughter.

This is a vintage Terry Porter Trailblazer shirt.  complete with holes that developed from Dad wearing it for so long.  A bit of a challenge, you can't fuse white interfacing to a black shirt with holes, and not have the white show through.  Spray basted to black fabric for a stabilizer, and then quilted to death to hold it steady.
By far, my favorite shirt.

2 Tshirt quilts for Katy

Katy had me make two quilts, on for her, and one for her friend using shirts that Katy had saved.  Many of the quilts used the front for one quilt, and the backing for the other.    What a lovely, lovely gift!

Diane's son's t-shirts

It took me some time to realize that this reads "Not Soberfest".  Hysterical!
