Koala baby quilt by Roberta`

Roberta has a grand-daughter who will turn 1 year old in Nov. 2022.  She hand appliqued and then pieced this darling Koala quilt for her.

Feathers everywhere in the quilting!  in the setting squares, and in the star blocks and borders.  The trees got a little quilting design in the tree canopy and trunk as shown on the pattern.  The bears just got little tufts in their ears, and it is all so cute!

What a lovely title for this grouping!  This is several quilts that I made for various occasions.  

This one is "Cat's in Space" with help from Michael, he loaned me the pattern.  This will go to the Cat Adoption Team fundraiser (I think.  I remember that the theme of the fundraiser is "Cats in Space", so how perfect is this pattern?  The cat faces are all made with my hand dyed fabrics, so they are all slightly mottled.

My neighbors down the street run the "Do Good" foundation and came to our block party over the summer.  They are having a fund raiser on Nov. 11, and I had all this patriotic fabric, so made them this quilt with Propeller and Friendship Star blocks.

 Finally, grab a panel out of the stash, don't even both to add borders.  Seems my friend and biking buddy Ted has a new grandson.  His son has adopted 2 girls, and recently found out that their birth mother had delivered an infant boy.  Since every baby needs a quilt, this quick panel went to them.

Of his current (that I have with me) quilts, this one is my favorite.  Not much of a fan of aboriginal fabric, but I love the colors, and the quilting in this one!

Bright orange thread and "African Storm" quilting design.  Also love the hand dyes and wondering how they got the purple and brown/orange in the same batch?

I struggled with this one, not knowing which way the wreaths should go.  Michael didn't help, the trees are going in opposite directions too!  It worked out, I chose a quilting design of ornaments that is not directional!  Quilted with shiny gold thread too, so a nice festive touch.

 

Memory quilt for Diana B

This will be a Christmas gift for Diana's sister.  A memory quilt made from shirts of their father.

Diana had cut all the shirts apart, and then left a few embellishments to add as well.  Like a couple of pockets, a front snap strip, and a cuff.  I hope that this will bring both of them some comfort in the future.

 

Baby quilt for Diana's grandson

Diana's first grand baby is about to be born, and this is stitched with much love for him.

 Quilted with a "Nautical" design, so lighthouses, ships wheels and a few shells.  Very cute.

"Cathedral Window" by Gerry

Gerry asked me if I'd be willing to finish this quilt top and then donate it.  Well of course I will! 

I've never made a Cathedral Window quilt, and I admire those of you who have.  Since it's a donation quilt, I used scrap wool batting, so it's extra fluffy and warm.  Quilted with a meandering heart design, and a curve in the windows.  

Now I just need to find the police officer to get it to.

 

"Jungle Animals" by Susan

Susan is another quilter after my own heart.  She loves to make scrappy quilts and uses up her fabric supply.  Which means that we can buy more!)

Lots of cute animals in the focus fabric, and then quilted with "Heat Wave" to either have some heat shimmers or leaves for the animals to eat.  Darling quilt.

 

"owls" by Diana B

Isn't this sweet?  Diana loves to decorate for fall, so made this fun quilt  The black fabric has owls, so that was a great jumping off point for the quilting design which is called "Owl always Love you."  (yes, bad pun, but cute design!)

 

Scraps and Strings by Kathleen

Oh wow, I do love string quilts!Kathleen is a new to me customer.  She came with her daughter to share ideas when her daughter dropped off a quilt ,and asked if I could quilt this for her.

 I'm going to keep this one in the back of my mind as a quilt to copy or at least use as a jumping off point for a future quilt of my own.  Quilted with "Twist and Turn"

Mary Beth is starting Christmas early

I hope I'm not giving away any secrets, but Mary Beth is making more quilts for her family for Christmas.  

This lovely is done in linen fabrics, and resembles the beach.  Can't you see the grass, then the shallow waves and the deeper waves?  Quilted with a wavy line to get the "waves"

We have called this one "Red and Gold" and then quilted it with Sitara Seashells design.  Lovely lightweight fabrics, and a very pretty design.

I've got to hurry and get this to Michael before Halloween.   Really fun Trip Around the World in Halloween fabrics, and I think the bright green is one of my hand dye.  Quilted with Spider Web panto, in green glow in the dark thread, and the fabric in the outer border also glows in the dark!

This one, I've got time on.  Santa faces!

All quilted with a fun Stocking panto that you can't see in the photo.  Trust me, it's adorable!

 

Leigh with help from Beth

Leigh was here dropping off or picking up another quilt, and brought me a bag of quilt blocks that she had made, as well as the leftover fabrics from that she had used.  Clearly, she was now overwhelmed at the idea of putting them into a quilt top, and asked me to help out.  So, for a few months, I had this project in my sewing room, work on it for a bit, then take a break, and start again.  Finally got it together and quilted.

"Bike Love" by me

When I was in high school, we hosted several foreign exchange students, and although my family didn't directly host Ursi, she and her host brothers are my "other siblings".

We've stayed in touch all these years, I went to her wedding, she came to ours.  So, when we decided to ride the Danube Trail from Passau, Germany to Budapest, Hungary, clearly we'd be visiting her.  So, she needed a quilt!  Last time I made her one was I don't know how many years ago.  Fabrics are leftover white for the background, some red and white birds with hearts for wings, then quilted with a bike design.  SMF!  (So much Fun!) an acronym my brother and I used during our ride.

Nothing like going to see your doctor (who is a delight) and finding that she is several months pregnant.  Well clearly, you need to make a quilt for the baby!  This is simply leftover waste corners from another quilt that I recently finished.  Throw it together, bind and drop off.  Received a lovely thank you note from her as well. 

Then, the day that you are returning from vacation your darling neighbors are moving to Amsterdam for at least a year.  Clearly they need something to remind them of their home in our neighborhood, so this is done to represent the colors of their house.  She's also the one who introduced me to ice dying, so all of the fabrics are dyed.
